The members of the New England Brass Quartet have performed together in a variety of ensembles throughout New England since 1976. Each musician of the NEBQ is accomplished in many areas of musical performance - jazz, classical, big band, etc. This distinct diversity of backgrounds allows the NEBQ to offer performances that contain a remarkable range of color and a wide variety of musical styles.
Since its inception in 1984, the NEBQ has been active in arranging works originally composed for other vocal and instrumental combinations. To date, more than 100 original arrangements from many periods and styles of music have been added to the NEBQ library. Included in this repertoire are works from ragtime, musical theatre, popular song, and classical music of all eras.
The New England Brass Quartet has performed extensively throughout the northeast. Performances have included concerts in more than100 cities and towns in Massachusetts alone. Appearances include: The DeCordova Museum, the Saugus Iron Works, Springfield's Music at First Church Concert Series, the Annual J. P. Barger Holiday Concert at Old Sturbridge Village, Holy Cross College, and Boston's Copely Place. A concert tour of Europe including stops in Munich, Lucerne, Paris, and London was met with standing ovations honoring both the ensemble's selections and it's impeccable performances.
Performance repertoire ranges from the works of master composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Hindemith to the music of Gilbert and Sullivan, Rogers and Hamerstein, and The Four Tops.
Whether it's a concert, recital, wedding ceremony, educational program, or religious service, the New England Brass Quartet has a library of music that is suitable for each audience and purpose.
